Shia Shelves is a community-focused bookstore and pop-up shop that brings curated Islamic books, stationery, and merchandise to events and local markets. We’re passionate about connecting readers with meaningful content while providing a friendly and welcoming shopping experience.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a friendly and reliable casual stall assistant to help run our stall at events and markets across NSW. No experience is required: training will be provided. You’ll be responsible for helping customers, handling sales, and keeping the stall looking inviting.
Key Responsibilities:

Welcome and assist customers with their purchases.

Operate the cash register / handle sales transactions (POS system or cash).

Scan barcodes for purchases.

Help set up and pack down the stall, including arranging books and merchandise.

Maintain a tidy and visually appealing display.

Answer general questions about products and services.
- Carry out general shop operations, such as packaging, adding price labels to stock etc.
Requirements:

Minimum age: 16 years and over

Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic attitude.

Able to work well under pressure, especially during busy periods.

Reliable and punctual.

Ability to lift and move light-to-moderate stock (books, boxes, displays).

Previous retail or stall experience is a plus but not required.
Hours & Pay:

Casual, flexible hours depending on events or stall schedule.
