Sunni scholars consider the two books of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim as the most important of their resources to the extent that they consider them as next to the Holy Qur’an. It is all due to this that they build their pillars of faith on the basis of the narrations they contain and refrain from having any critical approach towards them.
The present work evaluates these two books in a scholarly manner through studying numerous instances of the narrations they contain. The study makes it clear that not all the narrations these two books contain (contrary to what is generally assumed) are authentic (sahih) and that one cannot say that the narrations that have not appeared in these two books are false.
