I wrote The Watermelon Farm from a place deep in my heart, inspired by the strength of a young girl named Alyah. Living on a farm in Gaza City, she faces daily challenges under occupation, yet her dream of growing the biggest watermelon shines like a beacon of hope. Through Alyah’s eyes, I wanted to show that even in the toughest circumstances, courage and determination can help us nurture our dreams.

In every chapter of this book, I tried to capture the spirit of perseverance that comes from protecting one’s home and heritage. Alyah’s relentless effort to win the town prize is a symbol of how even the smallest dreams can flourish into something beautiful when fueled by faith and courage. I believe her journey speaks to all of us who dare to dream in the face of uncertainty.

The Watermelon Farm isn’t just about growing a prize-winning melon, it’s about cultivating hope and resilience. As I wrote about Alyah’s struggle to secure her family’s livelihood, I remembered that every challenge is also a chance to grow. I hope that her story encourages children to stand up for what they believe in and to face adversity with bravery and determination
